Early

Posted on 06:06 by Unknown
We have been sleeping in and enjoying the holidays.  I told myself I need to get up at 6 this morning but I had a disconnect there somewhere, I woke up earlier than that!  Don't you hate it when that happens?  I have slept in enough this month to kind of enjoy this out of routine happening.

I used to be able to wake up when I wanted to but in my later years it doesn't seem to work as well.  It still works, just not as often and like today, I can be off a couple of hours either way!  I have slept well the last 21 months though since I gave my will to God.

The early bird catches the worm you know, but the worms are safe and snug deep in the soil.  We will get into earthworm habitat next week at the National NoTillage Conference in Indianapolis.  Odette Menard, who brought a bus load of farmers here a few years ago will be speaking about earthworms.  I haven't listened to a good lecture on earthworms for some time so it will be good to get some updated information.

I have one friend who says his worm population has changed since his yield producing levels have went up.  He still has nightcrawlers but he doesn't see the many species of red and other worms he used to see.  I don't understand that relationship, either.  If you start reading this one simple link, you will see we could have a long discussion just on one topic to be presented next week.

I need to go talk to grain merchant, banker and lime spreader so I will finish this later.  I don't want to have a bad day like this fellow:
